My Story

It’s a pleasure to meet you. 

I’m Debby Lara, Founder and CEO of Delamex Accounting and Tax LLC. I am a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in both New York and New Jersey with over 20 years of experience in the accounting, audit and tax services fields. My passion is providing entrepreneurs and individuals guidance and support with their accounting and tax needs so that they can have more time to spend on other things that are important to them. 

I am a 1st generation Mexican American who grew up in New York City. Being the daughter of immigrant parents, I was fortunate to experience two cultures growing up. It was those wonderful summer vacations in Mexico that allowed me to fully immerse in the culture and language so that I can truly be bilingual. 

My accounting career started in New York City and I’ve had an opportunity to work in public and private accounting, government, and international sectors, as well as in a broad range of industries. In 2010, I enrolled in the nutrition program at the Institute For Integrative Nutrition and became a Certified Health Coach. While I never pursued a career in health coaching, I continue to practice what I learned and continue my education in it as my hobby.

Finally, in order to get what every true New Yorker truly desires (i.e. more square footage), I made the move to New Jersey. I’ve spent the last 17 years enjoying my closet space and views. I currently reside in Fort Lee with my wonderful husband. 

All of these experiences have fueled my passion for working with people by getting to know them in order to provide them with the support THEY need to achieve their goals. Let’s face it, not everyone is going to get excited about prepping a tax return like I do. So even if this is an end goal for everyone, how they get there will look a little different for each person. That’s ok, because everyone has a different story and if there is one thing that I love, it’s stories.
